Circa 1882, puce and brown printed marks, the tray and saucer also with impressed mark and date code for 1881 and 1879, retailer's marks for John Mortlock, London
Painted in bright colours with flower garlands suspended from bow-tied turquoise ribbons with gilt line-and-dot edges, comprising:
A shaped two-handled tray, 12.5/8in. (32cm.) wide
An oviform teapot and cover, 6.7/8in. (17.5cm.) wide
A small cup and saucer (4)

Lot Essay

The shapes are based on 18th century Svres models decorated in a style popular in the third quarter of the century. The trophies are similar to that of Charles Buteux.
