RARE FIRST EDITION of an enormously popular collection of recipes in practical medicine and pharmacology, widely reprinted in many languages. The purported author, Alexis of Piedmont, is otherwise unknown. The preface by Sansovino in Secreti nuovi di maravigliosa virtu i quali continouando e quelli di Donno Alessio (1567) ascribes the work to Girolamo Ruscelli.
