A set of four wine coolers of this model, identical to the present pair, were made for the 6th Duke of Devonshire by Garrard in 1824. They were sold from the Chatsworth Collection, Christie's, London, June 25, 1958, lot 21. They are now in the collection of the Fishmongers' Company.

A similar pair of wine coolers by Garrard, although lacking dolphins on the base, was sold in these Rooms, April 28, 1992, lot 164.
