The rectangular pendant with indented corners carved in low relief on each side with a field of foliate scroll surrounding a cartouche inscribed with two characters, Zhai Jie, on one side and the equivalent in Manchu on the reverse, pierced vertically for stringing; one carving a Buddha's hand citron; one a flower and the third a cluster of fruit

The inscription, Zhai Jie, on the plaque refers to fasting or abstinence from meat and wine
