A SMALL LACQUER FIGURE GROUP
meiji period (circa 1900)
Comprised of two small lacquered-wood figures of children, one free-standing and the other attached to a lacquered-wood fish bowl fitted with two spring-mounted carp and a glass cover, the robes of the children applied with gyobu and mother-of-pearl and their skin brownish-silver lacquer, each carved with two himotoshi at the back and fitted with a miniature lacquer pouch
