Lot Essay

Tunga belongs to the generation of Brazilian artists following Hlio Oiticica and Lygia Clark. An architect by training, but highly interested in literature, philosophical and scientific references, his work responds to the fantasy in the great fictions of the Latin American continent. He stages familiar objects which have undergone strange transmutations and grown to fabulous proportions creating his own fables into the fantastic.
