With the struggle between Herakles and Apollo for the Delphic tripod, the hero in the center, wearing the skin of the Nemean lion over a chitoniskos, grasping the sacred vessel by one of the legs, his club in his raised left hand, with Apollo to the left, holding one of the vessel's ring-handles in his right hand, an altar between them, a seated figure, probably Hermes, watching the action from the right, wearing a mantle around his waist and a traveler's hat, the figured scene in a panel to one side of the vessel, framed on either side by a net pattern, with a foliate band and a band of lotus chain above, with a double-reeded arching handle, trefoil lip, and echinus foot
