A GREEK MARBLE HEAD OF A QUEEN
hellenistic period, circa 3rd century b.c.
Sculpted from a narrow piece of marble, the head perhaps originally in the round with the proper left side originally modeled in stucco, traces of which are preserved, with wavy hair radiating from the center-part, a veil covering the top and back, with deep-set eyes and a straight nose below arched brows, the mouth open slightly, the corners drilled, with a dimple below the lower lip above her pointed chin
