A LARGE GREEK TERRACOTTA STATUE OF A GIRL
hellenistic period, circa 3rd century b.c.
Standing with her weight on her right foot, her left leg bent slightly at the knee, wearing a diaphanous himation over a chiton, her right arm bent at the elbow beneath the himation, her right hand clutching the edge of the garment, her left arm held at her side, her hand missing, her head angled slightly forward and turned to her right, with sensitively modeled features including a dimpled chin, full lips indented at the corners, a slender nose and naturalistic lidded eyes with incised irises and pupils, her hair arranged in a melon-coiffure with a knot at the back of the head, all held in place by crossing ribbons forming a "Herakles" knot above the forehead
