A GREEK GOLD AND BANDED AGATE FINGER RING
late hellenistic period, circa 1st century b.c.
The oval stone with a brown layer above white, engraved with a profile bust of a Hellenistic king, probably Alexander the Great, wearing a radiate diadem in his wavy hair, with the characteristic anastole at the forehead, the original gold setting perhaps slightly later in date, circa 1st century A.D., with a plain hoop expanding at the shoulders
