A ROMAN CARNELIAN RING STONE
circa 1st century a.d.
The flat, oval stone engraved with a standing figure of the goddess Isis, facing forward, wearing a chiton under a himation which wraps around her waist and over her right shoulder and arm, the end hanging down in a zigzag fold, wearing an Egyptian crown, holding a sistrum in her left hand and a situla in her right, a short ground line below, set in a European gold ring of the late 18th or early 19th century
