According to Annette Bourrut-Lacouture Evening Call was completed in Breton's native village of Courrires. In a letter dated 4 July 1988 she writes, "This late painting is of very good quality: atmosphere, light, landscape are particularly near to the specificity of Artois's countryside at sunset."

Annette Bourrut-Lacouture has confirmed the authenticity of this painting.
