Each carved with cabochons, acanthus and rockwork, the cartouche-shaped back and seat upholstered chassis in green floral silk set on a later red damask ground, with waved seatrail, on cabriole legs and scroll feet (2)

Lot Essay

A set of four chairs of this model attributed to Tilliard from the Collection of the Late Matthew Schuez sold Sotheby's New York, 9 December 1994, lot 191. These were sold from the celebrated collection of Paul Dutasta, Galerie Georges Petit, Paris, June 3-4, 1926, lot 116, pl. XLV.
