FIRST EDITION of Cotugno's dissertation, written at the age of twenty-four, in which he recorded his discovery of the aural aqueducts (cochleae and vestibuli) and of the cochlear duct. Cotugno made "important contributions to the knowledge on the structure and function of the ear, including the discovery of the aural aqueducts.
