8o (144 x 92 mm). Collation: A-I8. 72 leaves, paginated. Contemporary English blind-ruled speckled sheep (minor wear to extremities). Provenance: JOHN DRINKWATER (1882-1937), English playwright and poet (signature on blank leaf A2, dated 1920, and his lengthy pencil inscription discussing a variant imprint in the British Musuem and the rarity of this edition below: "...Neither Quartitch nor Chatto have seen another copy").

VERY RARE FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH. This copy with integral title-page (A4) and shorter imprint which reads: "Printed by Thomas Newcombe" and date. A variant imprint exists with "for John Holden" added to the imprint (see Wing D-1129). Drinkwater's note mentions the BM copy has a cancel title-page and the longer imprint.
