FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY TO LAGRANGE. EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED COPY, containing the following inserts: LAMARCK. Leaf of autograph notes, n. p., n.d. (his signature clipped and mounted on the recto), containing reflections on the causes of social oppression and injustice (tipped in to front flyleaf), with a statement of the authenticity of the hand written at the end, signed Lucy (?); JUSSIEU, Antoine Laurent de (1748-1836), botanist. Autograph note signed ("De Jussieu, de l'Acad. des Sciences"), n.p., n.d. [but before 1793], recommending a former student named Morel for the post of naval surgeon ("Naval surgeons with knowledge of natural history could be extremely useful for that science by procuring new materials"); CUVIER, Georges (1769-1832) and Antoine Laurent de JUSSIEU. Printed document signed ("G.
