AN IMPORTANT ASSOCIATION COPY FROM SIR ISAAC NEWTON'S LIBRARY. FIRST EDITION. A posthumous collection of essays, letters, and other works including "The fundamental constitutions of Carolina", which appears to be the first attempt to create a written constitution for the colony. This copy was one of thirteen of Locke's books in Sir Isaac Newton's library, but apparently does not show any dog-eared lower corners characteristic of many of Newton's books (see lot 624). Norman 1382.
