FIRST EDITION. Weyer's description of the history, analysis, etiology, diagnosis, prognosis, hygienical and medical treatment of scurvy, which forms the first chapter of his Medical observations, was often reprinted. He identified bad water and coarse and decaying foods as the causes of scurvy, and recommended scurvy-grass, Cochlearia offocinalis (illustrated in two woodcuts), as a remedy. Binz states that it was still being used as an antiscorbutic in 1895.
