FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH. After Willughby's death in 1672, Ray edited their notes and research, and "The Ornithology" was first printed in 1676, in Latin. The first English edition included additions by Ray. Willughby and Ray devised a morphological system of classification of birds, using shape and size of body, beak and wing.
