FIRST EDITION. Withering's medical thesis at Edinburgh University, on scarlet fever, and the best clinical description then written. Only a few copies of the thesis were published. Over 20 years later, when Withering was chief physician at Birmingham General Hospital, an epidemic of scarlet fever caused Withering to turn his attention to the subject again. Norman 2254.
