The deep shell-moulded bowl with foliate scroll handle and rocaille shell terminal, richly painted in colours in the manner of J.G. Klinger with holzschnitt Blumen and fruit, the underside with a similar flower spray and pea pods, the handle with a gilt-copper band chased with rocaille scrolls and shells

Lot Essay

See Karl Berling, Meissener Porzellan, Leipzig, 1900, p. 95, fig. 124 for a similar ladle with a gilt-copper band on the handle in the same spot along the handle as is that on the present example. Given the similarity in mounting, the size of the bowl and the length of the handle, it is likely that this piece was made in two sections and that the mount conceals a seam rather than a repaired break.
