The cover and its interior finely painted with fashionable figures in Venice, the top within a border of gilt arabesques and four small oval panels painted in Purpurmalerei, the sides with shaped cartouches enclosing typical European harbor scenes, the bottom in Purpurmalerei with a similar scene of merchants at the quayside, the interior of the box gilt
