A Victorian Scottish silver gilt three-piece tea set,
decorated with a mixture of styles, the narrow bodies with "bat's wing" panels, bead borders and cast serpent scroll handles, the sides embossed in relief with various insects; crickets, moths and butterflies, a stork, a cock crowing, a man and an upturned wash tub along with a host of flora, prunus, oak and bamboo, ferns and grasses against a matt background, makers mark J.N.C, Edinburgh, 1876, (also bearing French duty marks), 22.5oz.
