Lot Essay

The document appears to be concerned with the legal proceedings dealing with a petition reagrding the endowment of some villages in Aliabad (Azerbaijan?) by Amir Zahid Husain, the chief of the army and son of 'Abdullah al-Atabaki to Amir Imam Afif al-Din al-Husaini b. shaikh al-Mahmud al-Muhtasib, in order to help Sufis, scholars, orphans and travellers. It appears the charity was well maintained until the invasion of Amir Zia al-Din, the ruler of Shirvan, in AH 602/1205 AD when other parties laid claim to the property. The dispute was settled during the reign of Azam-i Atabak in favour of the original grantee and the document has the signatures of all those who attended the proceedings.
