Lot Essay

According to the vendor, Bo Diddley gave him this suit in 1963 during the artist's first visit to England. The vendor met Diddley at a press conference held in his honour. It transpired that the vendor and his friend were about the only people at this function who knew anything about Bo Diddley, they got talking to him and Diddley asked the vendor to show him and his sister (The Duchess) around London, which he did. The vendor took Diddley ...on the usual sight-seeing tour and then to an R & B club called 'The Scene' just off Shaftesbury Avenue where he was treated like a God... The vendor saw Diddley on a number of occasions after this and he was presented with the suit by Diddley before he left England.
