Portrait of a young lady in floral-pattern shawl, holding flowers, 1847

A fine early portrait with a delicately hand-tinted background of trees and rolling hills beneath a cloudy sky. An accompanying note in a later hand states that the daguerreotype is dated on the back Aug '47. This has been partially taped over so that only 47 is now visible scratched on verso of the plate.
