Album containing 172 cartes-de-visite including one mounted as frontispiece, four hand-tinted, a few with photographer's blindstamp on recto, several identified in ink/pencil and the majority with photographer's printed credit on mounts or on verso, loosely mounted in pre-cut window mounts with gilt borders, the majority identified and with dates in pencil in a later hand on mounts, inscribed in ink on frontispiece page To Sir Robert Gerard Bart. with kindest regards from [?...] Gage 1866, lined in blue silk, carved oak boards, the front cover depicting a draped female nude seated on a stone wall, the back cover with monogram CR, both within oval frames, two metal clasps (new brown morocco spine), red sprinkled edges, lge. 4to.; with a quantity of duplicate cartes and five cabinet cards.(a lot)
