A set of two carte-de-visite albums and one cabinet card album, dark blue leather, ruled gilt, each with different hand-painted floral centre-piece on front cover showing lily-of-the-valley, snowdrops with violets, and pink and white roses with rosebuds, two albums containing sixteen and seven tintype portraits, eleven of these mounted as cartes within decorated paper mounts, at least two with photographer's credit J. Jewell American Gum Photographer of Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool and Bristol, in blue leather- bound fitted wood display box, the hinged lid with bevelled edges, ruled gilt with hand-painted centre-piece of pink and white roses and rosebuds, lock (lacking key), two albums 5¼ x 4.1/8 in., one 5¾ x 8.7/8 in., the box 13 x 10 in. (4)

Lot Essay

Photographs include eight miniature tintype portraits of children and young men, two small oval tintypes of a young man with moustache and side whiskers, a pony carriage with one man, three ladies and two dogs, a hunter with his gun and seven hounds, a young woman in fur-trimmed coat, a bearded soldier, a young boy with his dog, a family and children posed on the beach.
