Album of 174 cartes-de-visite, nine albumen print copies of caricature drawings from two series, one series with captions in the negatives including .....Barney the Batchelor, A Tipperary Boy Goin' Coortin! and Paddy an' his Pig, the remainder lithographic cartes from various series, the majority with printed credit Rock & Co London, captions and series no., a few similarly titled and numbered but with credit J. S. & Co. London, inserted in pre-cut window mounts with arched corners and gilt borders, series numbers inscribed in pencil in a later hand on mounts, green morocco, decorative gilt clasps and corners, g.e., 4to.

An attractive album compiled from humorous series specialising in ironic or critical comment on the popularity of the true photographic carte-de-visite, including such subjects as "Brown..not so stout as his carte", "Photography so enlarges prominences", "A good shilling's worth", "Can't take the whole of the bonnet and crinoline in", "Not the only Puss that has a carte-de-visite" and "Cartes de Visite are quite a passion, And every Donkey is in the fashion".
