Five gelatin silver prints, each approx. 6¾ x 9¾ in. or the reverse, annotated in pencil, titled, credited and captioned For more than a millennium the pilgrims of China have come to Hangchow in the spring to seek a formal blessing they express each New Year. Usually the emphasis has been on prosperity. Lately it has been on peace, with the priests calling for special prayers to be added to this annual observance on typescript labels and with various ink stamps on verso. (5)
