Westward, 135 feet in length and 323 tons was designed and built by Herreshoff in Rhode Island in 1910. With a beam of 27 feet and a draft of 16½ feet, in a brilliant start to her career, she won all 11 races in which she competed. Her most notable as well as frequent victim was Sir Thomas Lipton's Shamrock.

Cicely, 114 feet in length and 263 tons, was built by Fay and Company in 1902.
