A fine fan, the leaf painted with three shaped vignettes of travellers by ruins, alternating with two Chinoiserie vignettes, the verso with a traveller by classical ruins, the ivory sticks carved and pierced with Chinoiserie, painted with flowers and butterflies and gilt, each stick with a shaped ridge at the shoulder and the closed fan resembles a dagger - 10in. (26cm.), French, circa 1750 (one guardstick repaired and slight repairs to leaf)
