His breast mostly exposed, with drapery falling from his right shoulder and held under his left arm, his head turned to dexter, restorations to head and neck

On an associated octagonal white marble plinth of waisted form, sculpted with central band of trefoils and scrolls, weathered, mid 18th century -- 16½in. (42cm.) high (2)

Lot Essay

The slightly elongated proportions of the neck suggest that this bust was intended to be viewed in a niche from below.
