A very large quantity of typed and autograph letters the majority to Major A.G. Church D.S.O., M.C., M.P., containing:
5 typed letters (one signed duplicate) signed ("Ramsay MacDonald"), together 13 pages, on 10 Downing Street and Privy Council Office Whitehall headed paper, 25 August 1931 to 10 July 1936, the first discussing the position of the Labour Party and the "questions of international finance". He states that "[i]t is clear that in the midst of the world depression, whatever its cause, fears have arisen abroad as to the stability of our credit and the Budget Estimates have fallen short most seriously" and discusses how "the causes of the international trade slump" need to be dealt with "to restore the necessary confidence". The others express his congratulations and sympathy with Major Church at Labour Party elections of 1931 and 1936. Two typed letters signed ("J M Keynes") to Major Church and Dr Marion Phillips, together 1 1/2 pages, 4°, on Kings College Cambridge headed paper, 2 and 6 March 1931, arranging a discussion with the "Currency group of Labour Members in the House".
Typed letter signed ("Yours sincerely Stanley Baldwin"), to Major Church, together 1 1/4 pages, 4°, on 10 Downing Street headed paper, 3 July 1936, discussing the disadvantages of "[E]conomic sanctions against Italy" and "[t]he return of the Socialist Party to power" in England.
Two typed letters signed ("Harold Nicolson") to Major Church, together 2 pages, 4°, 16 and 19 September 1931, discussing the emergence of Action The New Weekly of the New Movement.
