A Chinese buff pottery model of a horse and groom
the saddled horse standing four square on a rectangular base, with its head lowered and turned slightly to its left, the saddle cloth tied in knots to either side, traces of red, white and black pigments remaining -- 11in. (28cm.) high, the groom standing wearing a tunic tied at the waist and boots, his head turned to the left with arms raised and fists clenched -- 11¾in. (29.9cm.) high, Tang Dynasty, (some restoration and old wear).
