8°. Woodcut device on title and verso of last leaf. (Lacks L2, dampstaining, scattered MS. deletions in quire M, most of quire K and M3-6 unsewn and detached, quire Z bound out of order internally.) Late 18th- or early 19th-century paper wrappers of laid paper stencil-blocked in watercolor and colored inks, the upper cover with a pastoral scene showing a water mill amidst trees, human figures nearby crossing a bridge, the lower cover showing the Rialto Bridge in Venice as viewed from the Grand Canal, each image surrounded by ornamental border (partly visible, the size of each image area larger than the book) (slight soiling, minor wear to joints and extremities, tears in head of spine); perspex slipcase.

Early edition of the work first printed by Aldus in 1528, with unusual and charming early 19th-century stencilled wrapper. BL STC Italian, p. 156.
