4°, 4 leaves. 40 lines, gothic type. Lombard initial. Modern vellum.
A rare copy of a papal bull issued to raise funds for rebuilding St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican. Pope Julius II instigated a virtual reconstruction of St. Peter's, beginning in 1506 under Bramante. Raphael and other notable Renaissance artists and architects continued the work after Bramante's death in 1514, and it was Michelangelo who planned the famous dome, inspired by Bruneschelli's work at Florence.
