A charming publication by the noted artist, draughtsman and archaeologist, Charles Louis Clerisseau (1721-1820) whose fine drawings of the Roman ruins in Italy were greatly appreciated by the English and notably by Robert and James Adams who commissioned him to execute the illustrations for their Ruins of Spalatro. In 1771 he exhibited at the Royal Academy, with great success.
