Large 4° (300 x 237mm). Engraved frontispiece and 7 plates after the author and John Smith. Engraved map of Elba. Half-title. (One plate with short repaired tear at margin, several others slightly soiled or creased at lower margin. Small repair to lower margin of title and dedication leaf. Half title, title and final leaves soiled at margins.) Later calf-backed blue boards, untrimmed.

FIRST EDITION. The account of the tour, which took place in 1789, consists of just 18 pages followed by a short sketch of "Bonaparate and his family." Lowndes III, p. 1076. Pine-Coffin 7896.

FIRST EDITION. The letterpress describes the panorama as "taken on the spot by Henry Aston Barker, painted on 10,000 square feet of canvas, and exhibiting in the great rotunda of his Panorama, Leicester Square. The upper circle contains a representation of the battle of Paris ... admittance to each painting one shilling." (2)
