Lot Essay
This lens was one of the fastest wide-angles available in the 1950s and the fastest made for the rangefinder Nikon cameras. It was marketed from September 1956 and made use of rare earth lanthanum glass to provide a flat field and correction. Production began at 351800 and the highest number recorded is 359952 with a run of around 8000 units.
