See pps. 66, 68-69, "The Papered Wall, History . Pattern . Technique", edited by Lesley Hoskins, London, 1994, for the same pattern against a black ground and a watercolour of a drawing room at Nice, circa 1830, which appears to use this wallpaper with a red ground.
