the signature Yamanaka appears on a group of oriental objects with western style settings and would seem to belong to a Japanese firm producing Chinnoiserie objects for consumption in the United States. The mounts are of the highest quality and may have been the output of skilled metal workers who found themselves redundant when the decline of the samurai-class reduced the demand for armour and other weaponry
