BEN-HUR, 1959
A cloak worn by Charlton Heston as the proud "Ben-Hur," in the epic William Wyler film of the same name. The brown cloak is constructed of textured fabric, designed with a heavy bronze and gold braided thread sash intricately wrapped in green, orange and yellow cord; the cloak is designed in a draped and pleaded wrap style, hook closures adhered to the seam; sewn into the neck seam, the tag B.J. SIMMONS with the handwritten #1 Mr. Charlton Heston Ben-Hur. Together with a color reproduction of a lobby card from the film picturing Charlton Heston with his co-star Stephen Boyd as "Messala." Together with a letter from Mr. Heston's office, identifying the cloak as "...indeed the one he wore in BEN-HUR." (3)
