A RARE FAMILLE ROSE LAVENDER-GROUND 'IN AND OUT' CHUPU AND A COVER
GUANGXU
Finely decorated inside and out with lobed quatrefoil panels enclosing peony sprays, reserved on a lavender-ground with flowering and fruiting sprigs amidst finger citrus, gourds, birds and butterflies within a border with alternating green and yellow panels containing either birds and insects or flowering and fruiting sprigs to the exterior, the interior with similar motifs reserved on a green ground framed by Buddhist emblem borders beneath the rims, iron-red Xu Shun Chang marks, minor rim nicks and frits
4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) high

Peranankan wares of this design are rare and are highly sought after by collectors. Cf. a similarly decorated bowl sold in these Rooms, 30 September 1995, lot 73.
