A large Chinese ivory tapering vase
of oval section with mask and ring handles, domed cover with finial carved as two figures in combat beneath pine, the vase carved in high relief to either side with rectangular panels depicting figures at leisure in pavilions and on terraces in fenced garden landscapes with trees beneath cloud scrolls, all between borders of key fret, lappets, flowers and scrolling foliage -- 17¼in. (43.8cm) high, carved wood stand, four character mark to base, (cracked and split).
