A Minton pottery dish painted by Ellen Welby
of cardinial's hat form, painted in the maiolica style with a winged putto with a tethered dove, signed, below a tied wreath, the border with four winged putti among scrolling leaves and flowerheads, the underside of the rim with a band of scrolls, signed and dated 1885 to the reverse, impressed mark, year cypher for 1884 (a blemish to rim, minor staining to reverse) -- 43cm. diam.
