In the 1931-32 F.A.Cup final, played at Wembley on 23rd April 1932 before 92,298 spectators, Newcastle United defeated Arsenal 2-1. This Cup final contained one of the most disputed goals ever in the history of the F.A.Cup. With Newcastle trailing Arsenal 1-0, a long pass from a Newcastle player saw Jimmy Richardson appear to cross the ball into the penalty box after it had ran-over the line for a bye-kick with Jack Allen scoring easily. The referee who was well outside the penalty-box and with no linesman near the run of play gave the goal. In the second-half Allen found the net again to win the cup for Newcastle.
