By family repute, the above shirt was given to the vendor by his aunt's boyfriend the day after the World Cup final took place on 30th July 1966. According to the vendor, his aunt's boyfriend was Sid Brown who, it is believed, was the coach driver for the England party between the Hendon Hall Hotel and Wembley Stadium during the 1966 finals.
Although we are unable to establish whether this shirt was worn in the final or not, recent investigations conducted by Soccer Nostalgia has established that there were two sets of red England shirts manufactured for the 1966 World Cup final and therefore, the above shirt may well be the spare shirt allocated to Alan Ball.
