The above lot relates to Fred Cook who was born at Aberdare, Glamorgan on 20th January 1902. He joined Newport County in May 1923 from Aberdare Athletic and in April 1926 joined Portsmouth for a fee of (900. He played with Portsmouth until 1933 and played in the 1928-29 F.A.Cup final when Bolton Wanderers defeated Portsmouth 2-0. As a left-sided winger he played almost 250 League games for Pompey scoring 41 goals before joining Southampton in August of 1933. In the Home Championship match against England played on 18th November 1931 at Liverpool, Wales were defeated by England 3-1.
