The above shirt was gained by Tommy Thompson as a swap after one of the two matches played by Preston North End against a South African XI during their tour of Southern Africa in 1958. They played a South African XI on May 31st and June 7th and won the first game 2-1 and lost the second 5-3. Preston North End played a total of nine matches on this tour between May 11th and June 7th, winning 7 and losing 2.
